This week: Congress in D.C., NCUA board to meet

Funding for the federal government is scheduled to expire Sept. 30. House Republicans had announced a continuing resolution but pulled it from the House floor without a vote last week. House leadership hopes to have the chamber consider the measure this week.

The Senate Banking Committee holds a hearing Wednesday on the macroeconomic impacts of potential tax reform in 2025.  This follows last week’s Senate Finance Committee hearing on tax avoidance and preparing for the 2025 tax debate. The credit union tax status was not mentioned at that hearing, except in a study linked from a footnote of written witness testimony.

Other items this week:

  • Wednesday, the House Small Business Committee hearing, “Holding the SBA Accountable,” features testimony from  Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman.
