Ready for these May deals?

The weather is warming up and I am optimistically preparing for summer.

With our neighborhood pool opening next week, it’s finally time to say goodbye to winter clothes and unpack the shorts and t-shirts.

May is one of my favorite months, not just for the welcome return of mild weather or Mother’s Day, but also because of the great deals.

At the end of the month, Memorial Day weekend sales are the gift that keep giving with many items discounted up to 50%. Until then, you can find deals on that GoPro HERO action cam you’ve had your eye on, wireless speakers, baby strollers, high chairs and more.

For those traveling to watch a graduate walk the stage, look for hotels offering discounts this month to help you make the trip.

Here are a few more can’t miss deals courtesy of RetailMeNot.com and the folks at Consumer Reports.

Spring apparel: Retailers are prepping to push summer items, so you cancash in on spring clearance deals.

Appliances: Keep an eye out for Memorial Day sales to save money on refrigerators and freezers. With new models coming out, you can find a great deal on last year’s model.

Small Appliances: You may find the perfect gift for the new graduate or newlyweds. Get your blenders, cookware and handheld vacuums at a deep discount.

Mattresses: For those in the market for a new bed, May is the right time to buy. So whether it’s a “bed in a box” or a pillow top, use the month to do your research and hold off until late May for the biggest savings.

Furniture/Home Decor: Another Memorial Day weekend opportunity to save big.

Exterior Home Improvement Items: Saving money on roofing, siding or decking materials; plus, exterior paint and wood stains can help stretch those dollars.

Insect Repellant: Now is the time to stock up and save before the heat of summer, when mosquitoesand ticks begin their attack.
