Y-12 FCU Gives Foundation set to host fifth annual golf tournament to fight childhood hunger

OAK RIDGE, TN (June 10, 2024) — Registration and sponsorship opportunities are now open for the fifth annual Y-12 FCU Gives Foundation charity golf tournament being held September 16 at Fox Den County Club at 12284 Fox Den Dr. in Knoxville. Tournament details have been set and the schedule includes:

  • 10:30 a.m. – Registration
  • 11:00 a.m. – Lunch
  • 12:30 p.m. – Shotgun Start
  • 5:00 p.m. – Reception

The purpose of the Y-12 FCU Gives Foundation is to reduce the number of undernourished children in the communities it serves by providing them with food, knowledge, and resources. The Foundation has already awarded $310,000 in grants in 2024 and approximately $1.8 million since its inception in 2017. Gary Brewster, who serves as the Foundation’s executive director, says that the tournament is a great way to reinforce the impact the organization is making. “Food insecurity in our local communities produces some staggering statistics, like the fact that 20% of children in Tennessee live in food insecure homes. It’s important we keep this top of mind and continue to be a part of the solution,” shared Brewster.

By participating in the tournament, players can directly contribute to the Foundation’s mission of fighting childhood hunger. The proceeds from the tournament will be used to facilitate more grants to local charities who share in that mission. Sign up a team to play or consider a sponsorship option by visiting the tournament page. The registration deadline is August 16.
