Vantage West Credit Union, southern Arizona’s largest credit union, announced today the promotion of Don C. Wren from Business Relationship Manager II to Business Relationship Manager III. This aligns with the credit union’s direction to strengthen its Business Banking team and foster collaborative relationships with the local business community.
As Business Relationship Manager III, Don supports Vantage West’s existing business Members, develops new relationships with local businesses, andhelps them achieve growth and success as their financial partner. This involves understanding how their businesses operate through financial analysis and listening to their needs. He helps bridge the gap by providing access to business checking and savings accounts; loans to purchase inventory, equipment, or commercial real estate (owner-occupied and investor); operational lines of credit and credit cards to assist with short-term capital requirement; external funding sources such as the Small Business Administration; and more.
Don started his banking career in 1998 as Personal Banker with a large national bank in Tucson, and quickly moved up to Branch Manager in 1999 when his family was relocated to Bellevue, WA where he then managed two branches fora large national bank. As a leader in sales, he was again quickly promoted to the commercial lending world and began his dream toward becoming a Business Relationship Manager.
Don moved back to Arizona five years later, and it was during this time that he graduated from the Western Independent Banker School and started the SBA division for a local community bank in Yuma, AZ. He was later awarded the “Community Banker of the Year” for 2007 & 2009 by Business Development Financial Corporation (BDFC)during his 6-year career with a Tucson-based community bank.
Don joined Vantage West in 2012, and has effectively served the financial needs of local businesses on behalf of the credit union. “Vantage West provides me the opportunity to do what I truly love, and that is to help businesses and investors obtain their goals. After 20 years in banking, I have finally found my home,” Don said.
