Up-and-coming financial podcast, Carpe Dime, hopes listeners will ‘open their eyes’ to credit unions

Financial Center’s First Credit Union’s Podcast, Carpe Dime, is a personal finance-focused podcast quickly rising through the ranks focused on helping people improve their financial lives and “open their eyes” to credit unions across the country.

The podcast launched in January of 2020 and offers 15, 20-30 minute episodes to date with a fresh, realistic take on finances without intimidating industry jargon or judgement. The podcast examines financial topics from all angles: generation, gender and socio-economic status.

Recently, the podcast received local recognition from Circle City Broadcasting by joining the All Indiana Podcast Network, as well as from “Now Hear This,” an Indianapolis-based IHeartMedia radio show and podcast that shares the work of impactful non-profits that make a difference throughout Central Indiana.

“We love supporting listeners with a down-to-earth take on managing money,” says James Davidson, co-host of Carpe Dime and AVP of Financial Literacy at Financial Center, “Personal finances and your bank shouldn’t weigh your life down. Our podcast is proof of that.”

Hosts Dusty Simmons and James Davidson are longtime financial veterans who believe providing financial education is important in all stages of life, and even more so now, in the midst of financial uncertainty for many Americans. Simmons and Davidson have been a big part in shaping Financial Center’s adult financial literacy program, a six-time national winner of CUNA’s DesJardins Adult Financial Literacy award.

“We want Carpe Dime to help people improve their financial life,” says Dusty Simmons, co-host of Carpe Dime and VP of Membership Development, “But we hope an awesome bi-product is that we help listeners – many of whom may not even know what a credit union is – “open their eyes” to a credit union.”
