Unitus scholarships rise to $15,000 annually

TIGARD, OR (March 16, 2018) — Unitus Community Credit Union announced they will increase both their total scholarships granted and individual awards in 2018 to $15,000 and $2,500, respectively.

“As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, supporting community members will always be one of our highest priorities,” said Laurie Kresl, Chief Marketing Officer at Unitus Community Credit Union. “We believe that giving more to our bright, motivated leaders of tomorrow is one of the smartest investments we can make to promote long-term growth, stability, and success for the communities we all live in and love.”

Six scholarship awards will be given this year. Recipients will comprise three high school seniors, two undergraduate college students, and one student of either level who has demonstrated outstanding community service and volunteerism.

Since 2007, Unitus has awarded more than $130,000 in scholarships to qualified students each year. Prior to this year’s increase to $2,500, individual scholarship awards were worth $1,000.

Applications for Unitus scholarships will open in mid-January. Motivated students are encouraged to learn more and apply at https://www.unitusccu.com/credit-union-scholarships/.
