University of Michigan Credit Union is delighted to share that Marcus English, Chief Operations Officer at UMCU, has been named to the 2024 Crain’s Detroit Business 40 Under 40 list.
English was recognized for his integral role in expanding UMCU operations and services, including adding nearly a dozen leader positions to the organization.
A former college football player, English began his career as a member service representative at UMCU. With his strong leadership and operational skills, he was quickly promoted through the ranks from assistant branch manager to branch manager, to assistant vice president of branch operations.
From there, English focused on team development and growing UMCU’s network of branches. He also served as chief digital officer, where he led initiatives in digital transformation and remote service delivery. This provided enhanced digital access for members.
Currently, as chief operations officer, English oversees branch operations, electronic services and loan processing, digital messaging, new account processes, contact center, card services, ACH operations, ATM management and other functions.
“We’ve seen firsthand how Marcus has skillfully developed and implemented his leadership skills to advance his career here at UMCU. We’re incredibly proud of his accomplishments, and excited that he has been recognized in the prestigious Crain’s 40 Under 40,” said Tiffany Ford, CEO at UMCU.
