ORONO, Maine (March 1, 2024) |
University Credit Union (UCU) will open its first credit union branch in Kennebec County in early summer 2024, located at 67 Sewall Street in Augusta. Over the next several months, UCU will be renovating the building, previously occupied as a Dunkin’ drive-up, into a modern branch location with both lobby and drive-up services for its members.
The Augusta branch will be a full-service location and feature state-of-the-art technology with UCU’s expanding fleet of Video Teller machines. The full renovation of the space includes the branch lobby and a space for members to meet with UCU product specialists to include real estate, consumer and member business loan closings, UCU Wealth Management meetings, financial education programming led by UCU’s Certified Credit Union Financial Counselors, and more.
“Augusta is a natural fit to connect UCU across the state; it’s a community we have considered for some time and the convenience of this central location allows for us to best serve our members in a local capacity with their financial needs,” said Renee Ouellette, President and CEO. “Plus, with our recent change to a community charter expanding our field of membership, we welcome Mainers across the state to experience how UCU is Here for U.”
Driven by its purpose to promote financial well-being for our members and their communities, UCU will look to support the community with volunteering, financial literacy education, and fulfill other needs and activities in the state capital region from this new location. To begin these initiatives, UCU is sponsoring a HoMEworks First Time Home Buyer education course in Augusta on Saturday, March 2nd, where the credit union is teaching the lending portion of the course hosted by KVCAP. This will be held at Le Calumet Club from 8 am to 5 pm. To register visit: ucumaine.com/events/
