Tour of Credit Union Helps Cub Scouts Earn Badge Recognition

TREVOSE, PA — When seven-year-old Peter Sidorski of Cub Scout Troop 252 Tiger Den learned he could earn a “bead” for visiting a bank vault, he quickly contacted his credit union, TruMark Financial®, to arrange a tour. Tiger Cubs complete achievements to earn the Tiger Cub badge, and then complete electives to receive Tiger Track Beads. Sidorski thought it would be a fun experience for his troop to get a behind-the-scenes view of the credit union.

On April 17, Sidorski and his fellow Cub Scouts toured TruMark Financial’s Parkwood branch in Northeast Philadelphia, had the opportunity to open the vault door, and saw how an automated teller machine (ATM) worked.

Branch manager Michele Flaville discussed the importance of saving, demonstrated the cash recycler machine, and explained how technology has automated many of the credit union’s processes. Danielle Hasson, assistant branch manager, and Barbara Getter, assistant vice president of branch operations, encouraged the scouts to set goals and make deposits to their savings accounts on a weekly basis. To reinforce the importance of saving, the credit union gave each Cub Scout a goody bag which included a piggy bank.
