DES MOINES, IA (July 9, 2013) -- Shazia Manus, CEO of The Members Group (TMG), has been appointed to serve a one-year term on the Credit Union National Association’s (CUNA) Payments Policy Subcommittee. Manus was chosen because of her experience with legislative advocacy campaigns and payments policy issues impacting consumers and the financial services industry.
A former credit union CEO, Manus understands what it takes to make community financial institutions, like credit unions, thrive. She applies this knowledge every day at TMG, helping financial institutions clients across the country usher in new and better payments solutions.
The CUNA Payments Policy Subcommittee monitors, reviews and makes recommendations to the organization’s Governmental Affairs Committee on policy concerns relating to payments issues. The subcommittee also reports to the CUNA Board of Directors on matters relating to credit unions' access to and utilization of the latest developments in payments.
This CUNA subcommittee is made up of a national network of financial services professionals who have expertise in payment-related topics, such as data security, card processing, risk management and technology. Subcommittee members are selected because of their knowledge of and experience with legislative and regulatory payment concerns impacting credit unions and their members.

Prior to joining TMG, Manus served as the CEO of Greater Iowa Credit Union where she engineered a significant turn-around of the institution, achieving substantial profitability and membership growth. She also led a multi-million dollar business acquisition, adding to the credit union’s overall value for members.
A veteran of the credit union industry, Manus is currently serving on the World Council of Credit Unions’ Global Women’s Leadership Network. Her leadership goes beyond the financial services industry, as she is actively involved with a number of business and community service organizations.
