The Chartway Promise Foundation & Make-A-Wish Utah surprises child facing cancer with Disney trip

LEHI, UT (November 15, 2022) — This month, more than 80 Chartway team members gathered for a special reason: during a team member connection event, they surprised 6-year-old Maverick who is undergoing treatment for cancer with a Wish Proclamation. Together, they announced that his Wish to visit Disney World will come true thanks to a charitable grant from the Chartway Promise Foundation to Make-A-Wish Utah.

“The Chartway Promise Foundation strengthens communities by providing financial support to make dreams and wishes come true for children like Maverick who face medical challenges,” said Christine Wilson, the Chartway Promise Foundation president. “He and his family were overjoyed to be celebrated by our Chartway team members following a tough treatment journey, and they can’t wait to pack their bags and experience the magic of Disney.”

Jared Perry, president & CEO of Make-A-Wish Utah shared, “We’ve partnered with the Chartway Promise
Foundation for a long time, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their continued support as one of our
largest contributors. They’re special people who recognize how powerful a wish come true can be for a
child and their family – it restores hope and changes lives.”

“At Chartway, we’re dedicated to unlocking the potential of individuals and families so they can thrive – and a commitment to our communities is a vital part of that mission,” said Brian Schools, Chartway’s president & CEO. “That’s why we’re proud to have a foundation that brings joy, hope, and smiles to children like Maverick.”

Since 1999, the Chartway Promise Foundation has raised nearly $14 million to provide the financial support needed to make dreams and wishes come to life for children facing medical challenges. In addition to the Chartway Promise Foundation, Chartway supports its communities through its Directors’ Memorial Scholarship that has awarded nearly $400,000 to students pursuing collegiate studies. It also awards $25,000 annually through its Old Dominion University Athletic Scholarship fund, leads a contemporary paid summer internship program, and offers seasonal giving, crisis support, and free financial wellness programs.
