WINSTON-SALEM, NC (April 16, 2013) – The Center for Smart Financial Choices (CFSFC) will host its grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration on Tuesday, April 23 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in conjunction with Financial Literacy Month.
Allegacy Federal Credit Union officially opened the CFSFC, a non-profit organization to assist consumers with the skills necessary to more effectively manage their money, credit, debt and financial planning, last year at its headquarters located at 1691 Westbrook Plaza Drive, Winston-Salem. CFSFC provides educational courses that focus on preparing individuals for life events such as: first purchases, attending college, marriage, asset building, credit improvement, money management, raising children and pre-retirement.
Financial wellness guides at CFSFC use a variety of tools to accommodate different learning styles and to coincide with the stages in a person’s life; from a 5-year-old just learning about money to a teenager learning about credit or a newly married couple just starting out.
“The Center for Smart Financial Choices’ goal is to assist people with making smart financial choices by encouraging them to establish healthy personal finance habits throughout their lives,” said Ike Keener, Allegacy President and CEO. “It is important for everyone to possess the skills to be financially successful in life. With these skills comes a brighter future.”
Two local partners, Goodwill Industries and Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools’ Transition Office, have already benefited from CFSFC classes and will be on hand at the grand opening to share the impact it has had on their participants.
The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. outside and will feature a High School color guard, Mayor Allen Joines as well as Allegacy CEO/President Keener and other local leaders.
