The Achieva Foundation announces its inaugural Home for the Holidays: Gingerbread House Decorating Competition

DUNEDIN, FL (August 8, 2024) — The Achieva Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Achieva Credit Union, is excited to announce its inaugural Home for the Holidays: Gingerbread House Decorating Competition to benefit charities in Tampa Bay. This festive event will bring the community together for a day of fun and creativity where more than 200 participants will compete in decorating gingerbread houses, with a chance to win $5,000 for a charity of their choice in the financial literacy, education, or health and human services sectors.

The event is set to take place on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club (11 Central Avenue, St. Petersburg, FL 33701). Companies who would like to participate are encouraged to secure their table now as space is expected to fill up quickly.

“We’re excited to bring the community together for a day of holiday cheer and a little friendly competition to support charities that are so in need at the moment,” said Teresa Hibbard, Executive Director of the Achieva Foundation. “According to Giving USA, overall charitable contributions dropped 2.1 percent last year when accounting for inflation. At the same time more families are struggling in this economy, and charities are receiving more requests for help. A donation of $5,000 can be incredibly impactful for these organizations that are doing so much for others.”

Sponsorships are available at various levels, with 10 spots open at each competing table. The day will include a Parade of Icing led by Drew Garabo at 102.5 The Bone, refreshments and a cash bar. Any additional funds raised at the event will support the Achieva Foundation and go towards addressing childhood hunger in our communities through organizations including Feeding Tampa Bay and the Salvation Army.

The Achieva Foundation would like to send a special thanks to this years premier sponsors Duke Energy, Beth and John England and Hibbard Wealth Management.
