Summit Credit Union tops off new headquarters in Cottage Grove

Financial cooperative’s new campus, full-service branch set to open in spring of 2019

Summit Credit Union officially topped off its new headquarters in Cottage Grove this week, marking a major milestone in the building’s construction. The 152,000-square-foot, six-story building will demonstrate the financial cooperative’s dedication to sustainability and feature expansive wellness spaces for Summit employees along with a full-service credit union branch.

“We’re happy to be one step closer to opening our new headquarters in Cottage Grove,” said Summit Credit Union CEO & President Kim Sponem. “Our new building will provide our employees an enhanced workspace that focuses on their health and wellness, as well as a new full-service branch for the Cottage Grove community, which will help us deliver even better service for our members by combining staff now housed in five separate locations.”

The topping off marks the completion of the structural phase of the dynamic building, which will feature enhanced air circulation, green-friendly flooring and lighting, and a 17,500-gallon rainwater harvest cistern to capture and reuse rainwater. There will also be electric car chargers for Summit Credit Union members and employees.

Summit is excited that this new headquarters will unite employees previously housed in separate buildings. The building will include exercise and meditation rooms, a sand volleyball court, a cafeteria, and walking and biking paths. Designed by Madison-based architecture firm Strang, Inc., construction of the building by J.H. Findorff & Son Inc. began in October of 2017.

The new campus will be located at 1709 Landmark Drive in Cottage Grove and is set to open in spring of 2019.
