Summit Credit Union empowers student members to pursue higher education

Member-owned financial cooperative to award three $1,500 scholarships to Madison-area students

MADISON, WI (January 31, 2019) — Summit Credit Union is now accepting applications for its annual Board of Directors Scholarships, awarded to members who are high school seniors or currently enrolled in college. Each year, the Board of Directors Scholarships award winners with a $1,500 continuing education grant, helping young members pursue higher education and enrich their lives for years to come.

“We understand the importance of supporting our youth and the opportunities higher education can offer them,” said Kim Sponem, Summit CEO & President for 17 years. “The Board of Directors Scholarships are our way of showing our hard-working students that we believe in them and want to help them pursue their dreams.”

Applications must be submitted to Summit Credit Union via postal mail or dropped off at Summit’s Rimrock Road location by Thursday, Feb. 28. External credit union professionals will review applications throughout the month of March with all applicants being notified of their submission status via phone or email on or before April 26, 2019. Winners will be announced at Summit’s annual member celebration, Summit Fest, in the spring.

To be eligible for consideration, students must be members of Summit Credit Union as of Jan. 1, 2019, through an individual or joint account and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Summit supports area youth through a variety of initiatives including three in-school branches at Madison’s East, Memorial and La Follette high schools.
