In a world that restricts physical movement and “business as usual,” digital technology is filling the void to keep us all connected, supplied, informed, and of course, entertained. That was the genesis for The StrategyCorps “Happier Half Hour,” a weekly program that brings awareness to some of the people and organizations that are coping with the challenges we all face due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the live episodes, which will run through the month of May, we’re inviting the community to share their talents and passionate causes, while bringing a bit of levity to the camera and audiences, in hope that they can help us get through this challenging time together. Along with uplifting content, we’re raising money to give back to organizations that need our help more than ever. StrategyCorps will be matching a share of the donations raised. “We kicked off our first episode of the Happier Half Hour on Facebook LIVE last week to show support for the Nashville Street Barbers,” said Bryan Clagett, Director of Strategic Initiatives. “Our partner Dave DeFazio risked it all by taking a virtual haircut lesson from Matt Fine, renowned barber from Nashville’s The Blockhouse, to show our viewers how to give themselves a quick trim while stuck at home. I’m happy to say that Dave survived.”
“Service industries and performing artists have taken a particularly hard hit due to the pandemic, so this is our way of lending them a hand,” Clagett continued. “Our first episode was seen by over 1000 viewers and more than $1100 has been raised so far.”
On Friday, May 1 at 1:00 PM, Central Time, Nashville’s The Flour Flower Bakery will be featured on Episode Two. We've invited our friend Courtney Hunter, owner of The Flour Flower, to show us how to decorate cupcakes like a pro. Proceeds from this episode will go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The event will be simulcast on a variety of social media channels.
