Space Coast Credit Union (SCCU) donated more than $61,500 to Florida communities and offered financial flexibility to its members to help provide relief after the devastating effects of Hurricane Ian.
The Credit Union quickly responded the week of the hurricane by donating $25,000 to League of Southeastern Credit Union Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund to support recovery efforts for affected credit unions and its employees.
SCCU also donated $33,000 to the American Red Cross, uniting both team members’ payroll deduction contributions with a matching company donation. SCCU encouraged member support at its 65 branch locations, collecting more than $3,500 in donations to the American Red Cross on behalf of its members.
“With Space Coast Credit Union being locally based for more than 70 years, we understand the needs of Floridians after hurricanes,” says President and CEO Timothy M. Antonition. “We put our members, communities and industry first by donating to relief partners and providing services that support residents and their businesses during times of recovery and rebuilding.”
In addition to donations, SCCU offered flexible financial options to support members facing hardship during these challenging times, granting nearly 2,000 loan extensions and funding 487 hurricane loans, totaling more than $1.7 million.
SCCU also connected small business owners to SBA Disaster loans for financial assistance, which included Business Physical Disaster Loans and Economic Injury Disaster Loans during this time.
