South Carolina Federal Credit Union Announces International Travel Cards

(N. CHARLESTON, SC) – Dec. 3, 2012 – South Carolina Federal Credit Union now offers International Travel Cards in the form of reloadable Visa® cards, ensuring security and convenience while traveling worldwide.

South Carolina Federal’s International Travel Cards, also known as EMV cards, use a chip for verification rather than relying solely on a magnetic strip as most cards do in the United States.

The “Chip and PIN” system is used in many European countries and reduces the risk of fraud on face-to-face transactions, since the information on the chip cannot be simply copied in the way that a magnetic strip can.

Members can purchase International Travel Cards from any conveniently-located South Carolina Federal branch for a fee of $10.
