Smart Financial Credit Union ranked among best companies to work for in Texas

HOUSTON, TX (April 14, 2015) — For the second year in a row, Houston based credit union – Smart Financial Credit Union – was named one of the 2015 Best Companies to Work for in Texas. Smart Financial Credit Union is one of 100 companies on this year’s list, which is an annual project created in 2006 by Texas Monthly, the Texas Association of Business (TAB), Texas SHRM and Best Companies Group.

Celebrating its 10 year anniversary, the Best Companies to Work For in Texas List is a statewide survey and awards program designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Texas, benefiting the state’s economy, workforce and businesses. To be considered for participation, companies must meet the following requirements:

  • Have at least 15 employees working in Texas
  • Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business or government entity
  • Be a publicly or privately held business
  • Have a facility in the state of Texas
  • Be in business a minimum of 1 year

 

After qualifying, companies across the state of Texas are entered into a two-part survey process to determine the Best Companies to Work for in Texas. The first section of the survey evaluates each nominated company’s workplace policies, systems, philosophies, practices, and demographics and is weighted at approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second section consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience, which was weighted at approximately 75% of the total evaluation. Together, the combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Texas and also analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings.

The rankings were revealed for the first time at the Best Companies to Work for in Texas event on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Austin. Rankings were categorized as small, medium or large employers based on number of employees. Smart Financial Credit Union ranked 23 out of 32 medium employers (100 – 499 employees).
