The Security Service Charitable Foundation has donated $5,000 to Silver Ribbon Community Partners (SRCP) of McAllen, TX. This donation will be used to purchase medical and quality of life resources for the elderly in Hidalgo and Starr County.
“Our mission is to provide the advocacy, education and resources necessary to prevent the elderly or disabled from becoming victims of abuse, neglect and financial exploitation,” said Migdalia (Dee) Ochoa, program director for SRCP. “Donations like this from the Security Service Charitable Foundation make a world of difference to our elderly and disabled individuals.”
The charitable foundation’s donation will help to provide materials such as walkers, transfer benches, bath chairs and steel wheelchairs to roughly 50 individuals in need this year.
“SRCP serves the elderly and disabled in South Texas through community outreach, advocacy, physical resources and financial assistance,” said Julie Balboa, vice president of member service—South Texas for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “It is a pleasure to be able to provide them with the financial support needed to offer critical services to those most in need in our area.”
Silver Ribbon is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supported by United Way of South Texas. The organization operates two “Silver Resource Rooms” in Hidalgo and Starr County. These rooms provide incontinence supplies and durable medical equipment to the elderly and adults with disabilities in the community.
The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union's market areas.
