GREENVILLE, SC —SC Telco Federal Credit Union in Greenville, SC, was recently honored with a Diamond Award, which recognizes outstanding marketing and business development achievements in the credit union industry. The Award, from the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) was announced at a Conference held March 24-27 in Anaheim, CA.
SC Telco won CATEGORY’S BEST for a Community/Public Relations Single Event. The Reality Fair is a budget simulation used to teach teens how to manage their money. Based on their choice of career, each student received a budget sheet with his monthly salary, all deductions and take home pay. With this net pay they were asked to purchase items that they needed or wanted, such as: housing, transportation, food, clothing, and other items. All students were required to visit the Wheel of Reality, where anything from a DUI ticket or an unexpected gift of money could happen to them. At the completion of the simulation, students talked with financial counselors who helped them tweak their budgets to be better managers of their money.
