Breakthrough banking products now easily accessible to customers near the U.S.-Mexico international border
SAN DIEGO, CA (December 3, 2014) -- San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, recently opened its newest branch located near the U.S.-Mexico international border in San Diego County. The new San Ysidro Branch is located at 2036 Dairy Mart Road, Suite 130, San Ysidro, Calif.
The new branch offers loan and new account stations, teller stations, convenient hours and an exterior ATM that distributes $1, $5 and $20 bills. The branch will be open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“We are excited about our new San Ysidro branch because it enhances our market-leading position and creates higher visibility for SDCCU,” said SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Halleck. “A large number of customers in this vibrant, diverse community now have greater access to breakthrough banking products provided at a convenient location.”
The official Grand Opening celebration of the San Ysidro Branch is set for Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. The celebration, which is open to the public, will include refreshments, entertainment and raffle prizes, including the opportunity to win a $500 Visa® gift card.
SDCCU’s new branch is located along a major thoroughfare in a retail center occupied by a Vons grocery store and an International House of Pancakes restaurant. The new branch is near one of the world’s busiest land border crossings, the San Ysidro Port of Entry, where U.S. Interstate 5 crosses into Mexico at Tijuana. Considered the busiest in the Western hemisphere, more than 25 million vehicles and 50 million people annually pass through the border checkpoint. A majority are workers, both of Mexican and U.S. nationality, commuting to jobs in the greater San Diego area and throughout Southern California.
SDCCU’s new branch is opening at a time when dynamic expansion is underway in San Ysidro, known as the “Gateway to the Americas” because of its location at the southernmost portion of California. More than $500 million dollars is being spent at the San Ysidro Port of Entry to build a new northbound inspection facility, including primary vehicle inspection booths, administration space and pedestrian-processing facility.
