Credit Union West is pleased to announce the newest member of their Board of Directors, Jerry Oliver Sr. As a not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative, Credit Union West’s Board of Directors is made up of volunteers who help guide the credit union in supporting its members’ financial goals. Oliver’s distinguished career as a leader in public service makes him a valuable addition to the board.
“We’re excited for Jerry to join our Board,” said Karen Roch, President and Chief Executive Officer of Credit Union West. “He has years of experience in public service, and we look forward to seeing his innovative leadership in action.”
Oliver is a Vietnam veteran and an Arizona native. He served as Executive Assistant Police Chief for the Phoenix Police Department before moving on to serve as police chief in three other cities across the country. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s in Public Administration, both from Arizona State University.
Oliver made his way back to Arizona when he was appointed as a Special Policy Advisor by the Attorney General in 2004. He was later appointed by Governor Janet Napolitano to Director of the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control. Throughout his career, Oliver has won many awards, including the Motorola Webber Seavy Award for Policing Excellence by the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and has served with various community organizations.
“As I’ve learned more about the history, growth, and success of Credit Union West, I’m eager to use my professional experiences to help further the mission of this award-winning credit union,” Oliver said.
