PSECU bids farewell to longtime board member Kathleen A. Salmon, expresses appreciation for more than 25 years of service
HARRISBURG, PA (June 10, 2019) — On May 1, PSECU, Pennsylvania’s largest credit union, bid farewell to Kathleen A. Salmon, who officially retired from her position on the PSECU Board of Directors after 28 years of dedication to the well-being of the credit union and its 450,000 members.
“To contribute over a quarter-century to an endeavor shows true dedication – there is no doubt about that,” said PSECU Board Chair Jodi Lynne Blanch. “We’re so thankful that Kathy chose to share her time with PSECU over these many years. Her service on our Board of Directors, as well as the passion and expertise she brought with her, has helped the credit union grow, and it has guided us as we strive to provide our members with financial opportunities to lead a better life. On behalf of our Board, our employees, and our members throughout Pennsylvania and beyond, we wish Kathy all the best as she moves on to the next chapter of her life.”
Since joining the credit union’s Board of Directors in 1990, Salmon served in multiple leadership capacities, holding the role of Chair for five years (2001-2006). During her Board tenure, Salmon also contributed significantly to the work of the Board’s committees, most recently serving on both the Scholarship Committee and the Enterprise Risk Management Committee.
“Credit unions are special. They bring people together to pool resources and help one another achieve important life goals – from paying for the education that will launch a fulfilling career, to purchasing a house that will become a family home, to learning how to manage money and build a solid financial future,” said Salmon. “Those are the ideals that PSECU’s 22 founders had when they started the credit union 85 years ago, and I am so pleased to have had the opportunity to contribute to their legacy and support our membership over the past 28 years. I know that PSECU has helped me achieve goals I’ve had in my life, and I hope that through my service on the Board of Directors, I’ve been able to assist others in making their dreams a reality, too. Like I said, credit unions are special – and PSECU is at the top of the list.”
Salmon retired as President of K.A. Salmon, Inc., a self-owned consulting agency. During her career, Salmon was also a Senior Vice President at Capital BlueCross (1987-1997), served in a variety of senior management positions with Pennsylvania Blue Shield and Capital BlueCross (1979-1987), and was a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania employee in the Departments of Health, Corrections, Public Welfare, and the Office of Administration.
She earned a Bachelor’s in Economics from Juniata College and a Master’s in Public Administration from Penn State.
An active member of the community, Salmon contributes to the Bethany Village Residents’ Council and is Chair of its Care Assurance and Development Committee; serves as a member of the Church Council of the Shepherdstown United Methodist Church; and is a proud member of the Penn State Alumni Association and Juniata College Alumni Association.
Upon her retirement, the PSECU Board of Directors appointed Salmon as an Emeritus Director.
