PSCU puts the FUN in fundraising for Relay for Life

CUSO takes top honors for team fundraising for Relay for Life at its locations in Florida, Arizona and Michigan

PSCU, the nation¹s leading credit union service organization, was recognized by the American Cancer Society as the top corporate team fundraiser for Relay for Life in 2016 at all three of its locations in St. Petersburg, Fla.; Phoenix, Ariz.; and Allen Park, Mich. PSCU¹s employees raised more than $43,000 for Relay for Life through bake sales, book fairs, pie-in-the face games, dunk tanks, baked potato bars, food trucks, rock concerts and other events. The funds raised in 2016 represented a 27 percent increase over last year and brought the total amount PSCU has contributed over the last 10 years for the American Cancer Society to $210,300.

³We¹re fortunate to have so many employees who eagerly donate their time, creativity and energy to make a difference in the fight against a disease that affects nearly everyone in their life at some level,² said Lynn Heckler, EVP of Talent at PSCU. ³We are always working to find new and engaging ways to increase cancer awareness and prevention and to bring our collective and cooperative spirit to that battle.²

One of the company¹s more popular fundraising events among employees was a recent carnival-style dunk tank. Members of PSCU¹s senior management team, including the company¹s CEO, volunteered to sit on a collapsible seat above the water in the tank while employees paid $5 each for the opportunity to throw balls and hit a target that when struck, caused the seat to collapse and dunk the ³boss² into the water.

³PSCU¹s management and employees demonstrate a tireless commitment to Relay for Life, and they¹ve been great partners to us for many years,² said Steven Rose, Senior Manager for the Florida division of Relay for Life. ³Its corporate commitment to employee wellness and emphasis on healthy lifestyle choices fits perfectly with the American Cancer Society¹s mission to help people get well and stay well.²

PSCU was also recently recognized with the American Heart Association's prestigious Platinum award for the second consecutive year for demonstrating positive outcomes in the categories of behavior change, cost savings and return on investment through its THRIVE! health and wellness program.
