People’s Credit Union BSA & Security Manager Earns CAMS Certification
MIDDLETOWN, RI (August 1, 2013) — Amy Martel, EVP and Chief Operating Officer for People’s Credit Union, is pleased to announce that Denise Tansey, BSA & Security Manager for People’s, has earned her Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) Certification.
CAMS, given by the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists, is the most widely recognized anti-money laundering (AML) certification among compliance specialists worldwide. CAMS certification is acknowledged by employers, regulators, examiners and law enforcement.
As BSA & Security Manager, Tansey is responsible for the physical protection and security of the Credit Union’s property and assets. This includes risk management of fraud and loss occurring from member/credit union assets.
Tansey has been with the Credit Union for three years. She obtained her Associates Degree in Business Administration from Bristol Community College and has been working in BSA and security for over 10 years. Through the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) she obtained her BSA Compliance Specialist Certification in 2010 and she is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). In addition, Tansey is Treasurer for the Greater Fall River Food Pantry. She resides in Fall River, MA.
“CAMS is quickly becoming the industry standard as a professional qualification for a BSA Officer. It also demonstrates to the examiners that Denise has specialized knowledge in the AML field. We are very proud of her for obtaining this distinction,” commented Martel.
People’s Credit Union serves members through six locations in Bristol, Middletown, Newport, North Kingstown, Portsmouth and Wakefield.
People’s, a member-owned, state chartered, federally insured, community credit union, was established in 1922. Membership is open to all individuals. Deposits are insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government.
