PenFed Credit Union, the nation’s second largest federal credit union, today announced the promotion of Alicia Nealon to SVP and Chief Compliance Officer. Nealon is responsible for leading the design, implementation and monitoring of PenFed’s compliance and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) programs.
“Again it gives me great pleasure to promote from within our ranks,” said PenFed Credit Union President/CEO and PenFed Foundation CEO James Schenck. “Alicia is a highly respected leader in her field and an outstanding member of the PenFed team. She will help us shape the future of PenFed and the next generation of PenFed leaders.”
Nealon reports to EVP, General Counsel, Scott Lind and replaces Phyllis Mariam who retired from the position with over 33 years of service. Nealon joined PenFed in 2018 and was previously at Navy Federal Credit Union where she advised on a wide range of regulatory matters, as well as the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU) where she led NAFCU’s regulatory lobbying division. She also served as a law clerk for the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). She is a graduate of St. Joseph’s University and the Thomas R. Kline School of Law of Duquesne University.
“It has been an honor to work with PenFed’s talented compliance and BSA teams for the past four years. I am excited for this new opportunity to collaborate with PenFed’s tremendous leadership team and further build upon our strong compliance program supporting PenFed’s market-leading products and superior member service,” said Nealon.
