Peach State Federal Credit Union reaches $1 billion milestone
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA (October 8, 2024) — Peach State Federal Credit has achieved a historical milestone, reaching over $1 billion in assets. The credit union, which serves members across Georgia and South Carolina is now one of eight credit unions in Georgia and one of seven in South Carolina to reach this achievement.
Peach State Federal Credit Union was originally founded in 1961 as Gwinnett Teachers Credit Union by a group of local educators who shared a passion for helping people and a vision to provide the employees of Gwinnett County School system with a credit union. Since their humble beginnings operating out of shoe box in the back of a station wagon, the credit union has underdone significant developments in product and service offerings, system modernization, technological advancements, and branch expansion. But throughout their evolution, Peach State’s fundamental values and core principles of helping people and communities thrive, have remained unchanged.
In 2021, Peach State FCU created the Peach State FCU C.A.R.E.S. Foundation, an extension of its philanthropic efforts that bring people, communities, and local organizations together to help in a bigger way. The Foundation supports local school systems and educational programs, provides charitable contributions to local non-profit organizations, advocates for sustaining arts in local communities, and so much more. It is supported by the credit union’s C.A.R.E.S. Visa Debit Card program as well as contributions from outside donors. With each debit card purchase made, Peach State donates a nickel to the Peach State FCU C.A.R.E.S. Foundation.
