Funds will go to Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley
PLEASANTON, CA (September 24, 2013) -- When the Oakland Athletics wrap up a very successful 2013 regular season in less than a week, including their second AL West title in two years, their accomplishments on the field will mean thousands of dollars going toward affordable housing in the Bay Area.
As part of Patelco’s “Home Field Advantage” program with sports radio station 95.7 The Game, the credit union will donate more than $13,000 to Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley, which will help Habitat EB/SV provide affordable housing for families throughout Alameda, Contra Costa and Santa Clara counties.
The promotion was kicked off at the beginning of the season to help promote with Patelco’s new 5/5 Equity Builder ® home loan. A donation amount of $10 for every run, $50 for runs in the fifth inning, and $1,500 for exactly five in the fifth inning was established. The A’s did the rest – scoring 716 runs throughout the spring and summer, with 104 of those runs happening in the fifth inning. And on Friday, September 20 the A’s scored exactly five runs in the fifth inning, securing $1,500 more for Habitat EB/SV, the first time this feat was accomplished all season.
