Park View Federal Credit Union builds on tradition of Veteran’s Day community service

Members and employees of Park View Federal Credit Union gathered on November 12 to serve the community commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Armistice Day, now known as Veteran’s Day. In its fifth year, PVFCU’s Community Connection continued to show PVFCU’s vision of “Neighbors Serving Neighbors®” by volunteering over 375 hours in appreciation of the men and women who have served at home and abroad.

The volunteers stacked and split wood, sorted books and donations, cleaned, raked leaves, trimmed bushes, and provided other help as needed. “Our motto is Neighbors Serving Neighbors® and what better way to demonstrate that than to get out with our neighbors and serve along with them,” said Molly Boese, PVFCU Human Resources Manager, and one of the organizers of the event.

Volunteers served at Tried and True, Gift and Thrift, Patchwork Pantry, Crossroads Valley Brethren- Mennonite Heritage Center, Community Preschool, First Step, Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community, Eastern Mennonite School, and Highland Retreat.

The Community Connection was sponsored in part by Eastern Mennonite University, The Valley Roots Team (Kline May Realty), Keens Storage Trailers and Containers, Daniel’s Promotional Products, and Friendly City Food Co-op. These member businesses and partner organizations donated time and resources to work alongside PVFCU and give back to the community.

“We were excited to have a record number of volunteers” said John Beiler, President and CEO. “We had a rewarding day serving together alongside some of our members, and hope that even more will participate with us next year.”
