Having spent years building cooperative relationships around the world, Unitus is redoubling its efforts to help Americans in vital need of the credit union difference.
CUNA launched the Open Your Eyes to a Credit Union campaign earlier this year, a national effort to raise consumer consideration of credit unions, and Unitus quickly became an early contributor. “Our soaring member growth since late 2018 shows that more and more in the Pacific Northwest are finding Unitus,” said Steve Stapp, Unitus President & CEO. “But families throughout America deserve the opportunity to experience how life can be when their financial institutions exist to serve them, not the other way around.”
“People need financial transparency in an urgent way today. The credit union movement is built on exactly that,” continued Stapp. “Our movement is fueled by generosity, not by greed. It exists for people, not profits. We’re here to raise up local communities throughout America, giving everyone – not just the wealthy few – a chance to thrive. The time is now to spread the word!”
CUNA President & CEO Jim Nussle has expanded on the need for credit unions to get involved: “We need more than just creative content and targeted marketing. We need credit union difference stories told by credit union folks. We need fierce 360-degree advocacy to set up credit unions for success. And we need collaboration throughout the movement.”
To help credit unions take part, CUNA has provided a library of downloadable content including digital graphics, web banners, posters, and out-of-home pieces. The pieces are customizable based on what works best for each specific credit union and their members.
Stapp, Nussle, and other CU leaders encourage supporters of the credit union movement to visit cuna.org/awareness for more details on the initiative. Contributors to the cause can download, customize, and begin using the materials by visiting the Open Your Eyes marketing gallery.
