NCUA Announces 2013 Credit Union Workshops Schedule

Training Focuses on Compliance Issues, Fraud Detection, and Strategic Planning

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (March 8, 2013) – The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) announced today that it will hold the first of 15 free training workshops for credit unions on March 22, 2013, at the Double Tree Hotel Richmond Airport in Richmond, Va.

During the workshop, staff members from NCUA’s Office of Small Credit Union Initiatives (OSCUI) will provide participants with information and best practices on the examination process, strategic planning, fraud detection, leadership and fair lending compliance. In addition, the program will feature insights from leaders in the credit union industry, including representatives from the Credit Union Executive Society, Real Solutions, CUNA Mutual Group and the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions.

Scholarships up to $350 dollars per workshop are available to assist attendees with travel costs. To qualify, applicants must be from a credit union less than $50 million in assets, a low-income designated credit union, or a credit union chartered for less than 10 years. There are 10 scholarships available for each workshop. To submit an application or to learn more about these scholarships, email OSCUI at oscuitraining@ncua.gov.
NCUA’s OSCUI fosters credit union development and the effective delivery of financial services for small credit unions, new credit unions and credit unions with a low-income designation.
