National Teacher Appreciation Day 2013 Honors Educators with Freebies and Deals Outlined in New GoBankingRates.com Savings Guide

Educators are some of the nation’s unsung heroes, but National Teacher Appreciation Day 2013 was created to celebrate the individuals who are responsible for educating the country’s youth. In their new savings guide, personal finance site GoBankingRates.com reveals which restaurants and retailers are offering discounts to teachers and school administrators as a way of saying “thank you.”

EL SEGUNDO, CA (May 6, 2013) Saving money is essential for teachers and school administrators alike, who are notoriously underpaid considering the important role they play in shaping young lives. Fortunately, May 7th marks National Teacher Appreciation Day 2013, which celebrates educators' commitment to their cause with significant discounts and freebies on everything from food to fashion; GoBankingRates released a guide detailing where to find these deals and the requirements for obtaining them.

This day of thanks will impact millions of people in the country, as the U.S. Census Bureau’s Back to School: 2011-2012 report reveals that there were 7.2 million teachers alone in the U.S. in 2009, not to mention staff and administrators who help keep daily school operations running.

The GoBankingRates guide reveals top restaurants acknowledging National Teacher Appreciation Day 2013 with teacher appreciation deals, including:

  • Chick-Fil-A
  • Chipotle
  • McDonald’s

Teacher Appreciation deals can be found in the form of free items and meals, as well as percentage-off discounts at checkout.

However, GoBankingRates contributor Stacey Bumpus also advises, “Keep in mind that teacher appreciation deals are available throughout the year from businesses like Microsoft, Apple, Office Depot, Staples, Barnes and Noble and more, so don’t limit your rewards only to this week of recognition.”
