PHILADELPHIA, PA (October 7, 2013) -- Emerging credit union leaders are gathering today to kick off the National Association of Federal Credit Unions’ (NAFCU) 2013 Management and Leadership Institute (MLI), which sold out this year. The conference runs through Friday, Oct. 11, at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel.
“The fact that MLI is completely sold out demonstrates the value of the curriculum and speakers at this event each year,” said Anthony Demangone, NAFCU executive vice president and COO, and MLI faculty member. “Clearly, MLI continues to be a can’t-miss program for credit union leaders looking to obtain a comprehensive knowledge of credit union management.”
Back by popular demand, John Spence is returning to present his full-day leadership skills workshop, “Leader of the Future.” Spence has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Thought Leaders in Trustworthy Business Behavior. He is the author of several books, including “Excellence by Design: the Six Key Characteristics of Outstanding Leaders.” Each attendee will receive a free, signed copy of “Excellence by Design.”
The in-depth curriculum for this year’s MLI will address cutting-edge research on effective leadership skills, provide a solid understanding of financial management, offer creative tools to successfully build relationships with credit union board members and colleagues, and more. Students will also be encouraged to create their own personal leadership development plan.
Formerly known as NAFCU’s Management Development Institute and established in 1991, this week-long managerial education curriculum helps prepare credit union leaders to develop and succeed in today’s complex financial services environment.
MLI is open to NAFCU members and nonmembers. A complete schedule of events can viewed online at www.nafcu.org/managementprogram/. For up-to-the minute information on the program, follow the #NAFCUInstitute hashtag on Twitter.
