NACHA Announces Call for Nominations for 2013 Payments System Awards

HERNDON, Va., January 14, 2013 - NACHA –  The Electronic Payments Association announces a call for nominations for its 2013 Payments System Awards. The awards, which include the George Mitchell Payments System Excellence Award, the Kevin O’Brien ACH Quality Award, and the NACHA PayItGreen Award, recognize both individuals and organizations that lead, innovate, and excel in developing, implementing, promoting or advancing electronic payments. NACHA is accepting award nominations through February 15, 2013.  Award recipients will be announced at the Payments System Awards Luncheon, sponsored by TD Bank, during the PAYMENTS 2013 Conference. PAYMENTS 2013, the annual conference for the payments industry, will be held April 21 – 24 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, Calif.

“NACHA’s Payments System Awards present an important opportunity to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of those individuals and organizations advancing electronic payments,” said Janet O. Estep, president and CEO of NACHA. “It is an honor to be able to recognize those who have been instrumental in creating opportunities and solutions in payments, and shaping the future of the industry.”

The George Mitchell Payments System Excellence Award, named after the former vice-chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve and early proponent of electronic payments, honors an individual or organization that has shown superior leadership in developing, implementing, or advancing electronic payments. The Kevin O’Brien ACH Quality Award, named in honor of the late Kevin O’Brien, NACHA’s 1999-2000 Board Chair, recognizes best practices in ACH participants’ efforts to maintain or improve the quality of ACH services and/or the integrity and reliability of the ACH Network. The NACHA PayItGreen Award honors individual or organizational leadership, vision, and innovation in the education and promotion of electronic payments, statements, and billing, to reduce environmental impact.

Last year’s award recipients included: J. Steven Stone, AAP, senior vice president, Treasury Management Division, PNC Bank; ACH Alert, LLC; and Cigna Global Health Benefits.
