More than 5,000 people participated in the week-long MCU Shoot For A Cure by shooting a basketball and signing the Wall of Remembrance in support of their loved ones who have been affected by the disease. Participants included employees of many NYC departments and community partners, including the NYCDOE, NYPD, FDNY, NYC Votes, St. John’s University, the UFT, and the Brooklyn Hospital Center.

“We are proud to work with Borough President Eric Adams, Brooklyn Hospital and our other partners this week to host MCU Shoot For a Cure and bring awareness to the fight against colon cancer and positively impact the lives of Brooklyn residents,” said MCU Acting President/CEO Norman Kohn as he presented the $5,000 check to Brooklyn Hospital. “Giving back to the community with events like MCU Shoot For A Cure ties back to our mission and purpose as a credit union – people helping people. We are committed to continuing to live our mission through programs like these in our local communities.”

“I’m so grateful for MCU’s corporate citizenship, as we team up to take on colon cancer,” said Borough President Adams. “In partnership with The Brooklyn Hospital Center, which helped us make free screenings available this past March as part of our #NoButtsAboutIt campaign, we can take meaningful strides toward ensuring all Brooklynites take control of their health.”
