Mid Carolina Credit Union (MCCU) proudly recognized four outstanding students during its Annual Meeting earlier this month. As part of its 20th Annual Scholarship Program, MCCU awarded each recipient a $1,000 scholarship to assist with their college expenses.
This year’s recipients were selected through a comprehensive application process that included evaluation of academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, volunteer service, a personal essay, a letter of recommendation, and a financial literacy assessment provided by Banzai, an online education program. The scholarship program reflects the credit union’s ongoing commitment to supporting local youth and encouraging continued education.
2025 Scholarship Recipients
● Makensie McGee will attend the University of South Carolina to pursue a degree in Biochemistry.
● Allen Marchman will attend Clemson University and plans to major in Computer Science.
● Cullen Henderson will also attend the University of South Carolina and major in Accounting.
● Mason Mooneyhan will attend Midlands Technical College to study Building Construction Technology.
“These students represent the future of our communities,” said Dean Scarborough, CEO of Mid Carolina Credit Union. “We are proud to support their educational goals and look forward to seeing what they accomplish in the years to come.”
Now in its twentieth year, the MCCU Scholarship Program has awarded over $63,000 to deserving students throughout Kershaw and Richland counties. The scholarship is open to MCCU members who are graduating high school seniors and plan to attend an accredited college or university in pursuit of their first undergraduate degree. Funds may be used for tuition, housing, textbooks, or other academic-related expenses.
MCCU also continues to invest in financial education through its partnership with Banzai, offering free resources to local schools. Teachers who are interested in bringing financial literacy into their classrooms can access the program by visiting midcarolinacu.banzai.org/
