Marshall High School seniors hired for school credit union operations

MARSHALL, MI (August 26, 2024) — Marshall Community Credit Union (MCCU) is pleased to announce Will Krueger and Kiera Bush have been hired as the 2024-25 Marshall High School CU in School Student Tellers.

Both Will and Kiera are seniors at Marshall High School (MHS) and joined MCCU in July to train for dual roles as Student Tellers at the MHS CU in School branch, as well as Tellers at MCCU’s Marshall branch. In their roles as Student Tellers, they will handle transactions at the school branch and create valuable financial learning opportunities for their peers and MHS staff. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to work at the main branch as their schedules permit.

As part of their Student Teller roles, Will and Kiera will also be enrolled in an independent study course under the guidance of MCCU’s Financial Education Specialist, Laura Van Dyke. Through this independent study, Will and Kiera will deepen their knowledge of credit union operations, explore various career opportunities, and participate in meaningful conversations about personal finance and its impact on overall well-being. “Our goal is for Will and Kiera to take these essential skills with them into adulthood, empowering them to make informed financial decisions and be a source of financial guidance for others in their community,” said Van Dyke.

MHS CU in School branch will open for the 2024-25 school year on Friday, September 6, with a special grand opening celebration, where students and staff members will have the opportunity to win prizes. The branch will remain open on Fridays during lunch through Friday, May 16, 2025.
