LSCU honors Florida Senator Blaise Ingoglia as 2022 State Lawmaker of the Year

In December of 2022, the League of Southeastern Credit Unions (LSCU) Board of Directors met to approve strategic plans for 2023 and discuss a number of other business items, including the 2022 lawmakers of the year. During the nomination and approval process, legislator’s contributions to, and support for, credit unions were discussed at length.

The Florida Advocacy Policy Committee voted to nominate Senator Blaise Ingoglia (R-11) as the 2022 State Lawmaker of the Year, which was later approved by the LSCU Board of Directors.

Senator Ingoglia formally served as a member of House leadership and Chairman of the Commerce Committee, over the Subcommittee on Insurance and Banking. In these roles, Senator Ingoglia was able to make a tremendous impact for the constituents of Florida.

“As Chairman of the Commerce Committee, Senator Ingoglia was extremely instrumental in having LSCU's priority bill on public deposits heard in Insurance and Banking, where it ultimately passed with an incredible 11-5 vote,” noted Patrick La Pine, CEO of LSCU & Affiliates. “With Senator Ingoglia’s new position, we have no doubt whatsoever that he will rise to leadership in the upper house and continue to be a friend to LSCU.”

Senator Ingoglia remains accessible to Florida’s credit unions and LSCU appreciates his commitment to serving the state.
