METAIRIE, LOUISIANA (April 18, 2024) |
This year marks a significant milestone for Post Office Employees’ Credit Union (POECU) headquartered in Metairie, Louisiana. Not only is the financial institution celebrating its Centennial anniversary but is also recognized as the longest-serving credit union in Louisiana. It started the credit union movement in Louisiana and set the standard for the other 150 credit unions currently still serving the state.
Since its formation in 1924 by the Employees of the United States Postal Service in New Orleans, POECU has been a pillar of financial stability, commitment, and community support, fostering a legacy of trust and excellence. The credit union has evolved with the financial landscape while remaining steadfast in its mission to empower members with personalized service, competitive products, and a strong sense of community. From its humble beginnings to today, the credit union has consistently demonstrated resilience and adaptability.
“As we celebrate 100 years of service, we reflect on the strong foundation that has shaped our credit union. We are immensely grateful to our members, employees, and the communities we serve for their trust and support,” says Michelle Duhe, President/Chief Executive Officer. “We celebrate this success with our 4500+ members and look forward to leaving a greater financial footprint in the years to come."
To commemorate this historic milestone, POECU has planned multiple events and initiatives occurring throughout the year aimed at expressing gratitude to its members, employees, and the communities it serves. The festivities include monthly events and their Annual Meeting and Centennial Celebration on May 15, 2024.
