Credit Union National Association (CUNA) announced today that Kandie Stroud is joining the Strategic Communications team as their Director of Media Relations. Stroud previously served as President of Stroud & Associates, LLC, a boutique communications firm she founded in 2005.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kandie to the CUNA family. She has a strong background in media relations that we are excited to leverage on behalf of the movement,” said Deshundra Jefferson, chief strategic communications officer at CUNA.
Stroud has over 40 years of experience in strategic communications, political campaigns and journalism. She was voted top 20 female political strategists by Business Insider in 2021. Stroud served as a senior advisor and communications director for John Delaney’s presidential campaign during the 2020 election cycle.
She was the Director of Broadcast Communications for the Democratic National Committee for a decade and managed the radio bookings for several Democratic National Conventions. She was also the first woman to serve as the chief diplomatic correspondent for CNN.
Stroud is a best-selling author, holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Boston College, and is fluent in five languages. She has performed with the Choral Arts Society of Washington, a symphonic chorus, on concert stages around the world from South America to Russia, and from China to Europe. Stroud has served as board chairman of the Choral Arts Society of Washington. She was also a trustee for 30 years.
