Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union Brings Brandon Lloyd to Lowell High

LOWELL – Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union and the National Financial Educators Council’s Money XLive teamed up with New England Patriots’ wide receiver Brandon Lloyd to have him visit Lowell High School on Tuesday, November 27.

Lloyd, who signed a three-year $12-million deal with the Patriots in March and scored two touchdowns against the Rams last month, spent three hours at Lowell High School Tuesday morning. Arriving shortly before 9 a.m., Lloyd toured the building escorted by Lowell High student ambassadors before speaking at a general assembly.

During the assembly, more than 150 students watched a video on making financial decisions and listened to Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union’s Financial Education team explain the importance of maintaining healthy finances in order to achieve life goals.

Lloyd’s speech, which immediately followed the video, focused on his financial history including early mistakes he advised students to avoid, such as overspending and failing to save for the future.

“It’s time for you to start preparing yourselves for the world,” Lloyd said. “Once you view money as something that requires labor, you have more respect for it.”

After the assembly, Lloyd signed autographs, chatted with business students, and enjoyed lunch with students at Lowell High School’s restaurant.

“We were thrilled to help bring Brandon Lloyd, a talented athlete and dynamic speaker, to Lowell High School to share his experiences and insight with students,” said Mark S. Cochran, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. “It was a very exciting and illuminating morning for everyone.”

Lloyd’s past reflects his commitment to excellence and he imparted this knowledge to the students.  He attended Blue Springs High School in Missouri where he was a letterman in football, basketball and track. Lloyd attended the University of Illinois finishing his college career having the second most receiving yards and touchdown catches in Illinois history and ranking third in all-time receptions. Lloyd stays engaged with fans via Twitter at @mrblloyd.
