It’s time to sign up for CU Shop Local 2021! Start showing your support today!

In its 10th year, CU Lunch Local is continuing its mission of asking for industry-wide support for local businesses by asking credit unions, CUSOs, leagues, regulators, and credit union partners to shop and spend dollars locally. This year we’re looking to step up the challenge and show support not just one day in October but all month long with a spin on CU Lunch Local. In 2021, the event founders are promoting a CU Shop Local event. If a participating organization supports a local business during October 2021, participants are being asked to share photos and stories on social media along with the hashtag #CULunchLocal and #CUShopLocal.

What better way to show our support for our local community than to buy local? Every dollar spent makes a difference when it goes to a local business, from buying a morning cup of coffee, ordering lunch, shopping local, endorsing a local business, or organizing a group of people to cash mob a local business.

“This year is we wanted to raise the bar of support for our local communities,” says Bill Beardsley, President/CEO of Michigan Business Connection. “Supporting our local restaurants is important, but we want to make sure other small businesses in our communities are also being celebrated for the great things they do.” Beardsley goes onto say, “Credit Unions have a history of giving back and supporting their local communities. Let’s continue to stand together and help lift our local economy.”

How you choose to celebrate is up to you, and the possibilities are limitless. To sign up for the event, visit https://www.mbcloans.biz/culunchlocal/. It’s important to note this is still a CU Lunch Local event, but with a goal to make an even bigger impact.  CU Shop Local will be used for all celebrations. Share your shop local stories by posting your pictures directly to the CU Lunch Local Facebook page with the hashtags #culunclocal and #cushoplocal. We also encourage participants to share their activity on their organization’s social media pages with the CU Lunch Local hashtags, and remember to tag the businesses if possible.
