UCLA and NC state play at petco park on December 28!

SAN DIEGO, CA (December 10, 2021)San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), one of Southern California’s largest locally-owned financial institutions, is the proud title sponsor of the 43rd annual San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl. This will be the first football game played at Petco Park in Downtown San Diego with kickoff at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021. The bowl game will match the UCLA Bruins against the No. 18 ranked NC State Wolfpack. This year marks the first time an ACC team has ever played in the SDCCU Holiday Bowl. The bowl game will match teams from the ACC and Pac-12 through at least 2025. The Pac-12 has been represented in every Holiday Bowl since 1998. The last time a current ACC school has played football in San Diego was in 1992 when the Miami Hurricanes (then in the Big East) defeated San Diego State 63-17. While this will be NC State’s first appearance in the Holiday Bowl, UCLA played in the 2012 bowl game, losing to Baylor 49-26.

UCLA finished the 2021 season tied for second place in the Pac-12’s South division, the Bruins’ best finish since 2014. The Bruins were 3-0 in November, the first time that feat has been accomplished since 1998. UCLA holds a 2-0 record all-time versus NC State. The last meeting was in 1960. UCLA defeated the Wolfpack 7-0.

NC State won four of their last five games, most recently coming from behind to defeat rival North Carolina 34-30. They finished with a 6-3 conference record, good for second place in the ACC’s Atlantic division. This year marks the Wolfpack’s 34th bowl game appearance. They are 17-15-1 all-time.

“We are excited to present the first football game ever played at Petco Park and host the UCLA Bruins and NC State Wolfpack in this year’s San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl”, said SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Campbell, “We are looking forward to an exciting match-up between the two teams and welcoming their fans on December 28 at Petco Park in the heart of Downtown San Diego.”

All ticket holders receive access to the SDCCU Holiday Bowl Pregame Party located at Gallagher Square in Petco Park. Live music, games, food and family fun are all part of this FREE party. The Pregame Party will start at 2 p.m. and go until game kickoff at 5 p.m.
