INDIANAPOLIS, IN (September 10, 2013) -- Indiana Members Credit Union (IMCU), Central Indiana’s largest credit union, announced today that Lamoura Munse, VP Public Relations, IMCU, is set to retire at the end of September.
After 45 years working in financial services, Indiana Credit Union League Director Lamoura Munse has announced her retirement from IMCU effective at the end of September. Munse has been VP Public Relations at IMCU since a merger with Capital Plus CU in 2005. She was President and CEO at Capital Plus CU since 1990 when it was known as Indiana Public Employees Credit Union. The credit union had four branches throughout Indiana that served state employees including one at the Indiana Statehouse where the capitol dome was an inspiration for the credit union’s name. “I especially enjoyed working with the state troopers, and still count many of them among my friends today,” she said. Prior to working with credit unions, Munse worked in banking, primarily as an auditor, collecting experience in commercial lending as well.
Over the years, her involvement in the credit union business has been extensive at the state and national level. She has been on the League board since 2004, serving as chairman from 2009-2010. Currently she is a member of the Awards Committee, Convention Committee and the Examinations Advisory Group, and she is on the board of trustees for the Stabilization and Advancement Reserve. She is a charter member of the board of directors of the Indiana Credit Union Foundation, having served as Foundation
Chairman from 2005-2008. She was also a longtime member of the Central Chapter board and was active in chapter activities. At the national level, Munse serves as Indiana’s CULAC Trustee, and she was elected by the other CULAC Trustees to CULAC's executive committee. Additionally, she is a member of the National Credit Union Foundation’s Awards Committee.
“I have truly enjoyed every aspect of my career and working with so many wonderful people over the years,” said Munse. “The credit union industry differentiates itself by putting members’ needs first and I am honored to have had the opportunity to be a part of such an inspiring movement.”
“I want to thank Lamoura for her terrific contribution over the years and helping to make IMCU a successful organization,” said Ron Collier, President and CEO of IMCU. “Lamoura has had a tremendous impact on both IMCU and Indiana Credit Unions and we will miss her dearly and wish her well.”
