Houston Area Credit Unions Send Support to Oklahoma Foundation

HOUSTON, TX (June 14, 2013) The Houston Chapter of Credit Unions continues to support their friends affected by tragic events.  The Chapter raised $6,000 from Houston area credit unions and their business partners to donate a total of $6,000 to the Oklahoma Foundation in support of the Oklahoma credit unions.

Clint Hartmann, President of the Houston Chapter and CEO of the Houston Texas Fire Fighters FCU said states “our hearts go out to the Oklahoma credit unions, their staff, family members, and the credit union members who have suffered so much from the recent tornado in Moore, Oklahoma, and surrounding areas.  We started a collection during the May chapter meeting and then the news stormed throughout the Houston area.”

During the fall 2012, the Chapter donated $5,000 for Hurricane Sandy Relief efforts; matching the Texas Credit Union Foundation’s $5,000 donation.

Malcolm Rene, Houston Chapter of Credit Unions Board Member and Executive Vice President & CFO at United Community Credit Union explains “the storms in Oklahoma are a tragedy and our hearts go out to all those affected.  Having experienced storms like Hurricane Ike, that hit the Houston region in 2008, we understand the emotional and financial turmoil in the aftermath that disrupts the lives of hard working people and local businesses for years.”
