Hawaii State FCU announces free financial education webinars from April-June

Hawaii State Federal Credit Union (Hawaii State FCU) has released its latest schedule of free financial education webinars, reaffirming its commitment to empowering members and the community with the knowledge and tools needed to achieve financial wellness. Covering topics such as financial behaviors, home buying, and renovation financing, these expert-led sessions are designed to provide practical guidance for navigating important financial decisions. The webinars are free and open to the public, and registration is now available at HawaiiStateFCU.com/events.

Wednesday, April 16

10 – 11 a.m.    Part 1 of 3 Financial Attitudes and Behaviors: Healthy vs Unhealthy

Understanding financial behaviors is the first step toward long-term financial wellness. This session explores the root causes of unhealthy financial habits, identifying patterns that may lead to financial challenges. Participants will gain insight into how to recognize and shift negative financial behaviors.

12 – 1 p.m.      Home Improvement and Renovations

Purchasing a home that requires renovations or upgrading an existing property often requires careful financial planning. This webinar provides an overview of financing options for home improvements, including how to incorporate renovation costs into a mortgage and explore alternative funding strategies.

10 – 11 a.m.    Part 2 of 3 Financial Attitudes and Behaviors: How you Spend and Money Influencers

Spending habits are often shaped by behavioral and generational influences. This session examines common spending cycles, explores the impact of family and societal influences on financial decisions, and offers insights into creating healthier spending patterns.

12 – 1 p.m.      Mortgage Basics for First-Time Buyers

Navigating the homebuying process can be complex, especially for first-time buyers. This webinar provides a step-by-step overview, including pre-approval requirements, mortgage options, and the closing process. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of what to expect when purchasing a home.

Wednesday, June 18

10 – 11 a.m.    Part 3 of 3 Financial Attitudes and Behaviors: Money and the Generational Differences

Each generation has distinct approaches to financial management. This session explores the financial attitudes and behaviors of six generational groups, examining how these perspectives influence financial decision-making. The discussion will highlight key generational differences and how they impact relationships with money.

12 – 1 p.m.      First Time Home Buyer Explained

First-time homebuyers often have questions about financing options and navigating the purchasing process. This webinar provides an in-depth overview of available mortgage programs, including Hawaii State FCU’s new 40-year mortgage loan program, which offers lower monthly payments by extending the loan term.
