Gulf Coast Educators FCU announces 2023 scholarship recipients

On May 3, 2023, Gulf Coast Educators FCU announced their 2023 scholarship recipients. The following students were selected as recipients of this scholarship award:

Emery Farmer – Glenda Dawson HS, Pearland ISD

Marcelino “Marc” Alaniz – Pasadena Memorial HS, Pasadena ISD

Anna Antonoff – Deer Park HS, Deer Park ISD

Vivian Garcia – Kingwood Park HS, Humble ISD

According to a report provided by the College Board, the average yearly cost of attending a four-year public college is $9,293. To help alleviate these higher education costs for their members, Gulf Coast Educators FCU awards scholarships annually in the amount of $500 per semester for four years - a total of $4,000 goes to four qualifying students selected from applicants within their field of membership. This year the credit union received 51 applications from high school seniors all over the state of Texas.

To qualify for the scholarship, the applicant must have been a graduating high school senior for the 2022-2023 school year. Applicants were also required to be a GCEFCU member in good standing, along with their parent/guardian. Two scholarships were awarded to students pursuing a degree in the field of education, and the other two to applicants outside the teaching field.

Since 1992, Gulf Coast Educators FCU has awarded more than $404,000 in scholarships to deserving graduating seniors.
