GTE Financial’s general counsel honored as one of Tampa Style Magazine’s Top Women In Law

Locally owned and operated credit union, GTE Financial is thrilled to announce its General Counsel, Marie D. Campbell has been named one of Tampa Style Magazine's Top Women In Law. Campbell oversees the intricate tapestry of legal and regulatory compliance functions at the credit union. Her tenure as Vice President is distinguished by a keen legal acumen and a steadfast dedication to ethical leadership.

Campbell started her professional journey at GTE in 2014, where she founded an internal legal department based on her own strategic vision. The success of this initiative quickly propelled her to the role of General Counsel within a year. As General Counsel, she skillfully handles litigation, leads compliance strategy, and fosters a risk management culture that reinforces the organization's growth aspirations.

“Empowering women, and especially women of color in law isn't just about breaking barriers; it's about shattering glass ceilings and paving the way for a future where excellence knows no gender," comments Marie D. Campbell, General Counsel at GTE Financial.

Marie’s journey from Jamaica to the legal echelons of Florida is a tale of determination and natural aptitude. With a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and a Juris Doctorate from St. Thomas University School of Law, where she was a scholarship recipient, Marie’s path was shaped by her father’s belief in her destiny as a lawyer—a belief she has more than justified.

Holding degrees from both the University of Florida and St. Thomas University School of Law, Cambell's journey from Jamaica to a prominent legal career in Florida showcases her determination and talent. Prior to GTE, Campbell was Senior Managing Attorney at McCalla Raymer Leibert Pierce, LLC, where she honed her expertise in civil litigation, including mortgage foreclosure, real estate, and bankruptcy.

Campbell is an active member of several legal and leadership organizations, including the George Edgecomb Bar Association and the Hillsborough County Bar Association. She aligns with the credit union's commitment to financial literacy by contributing to community initiatives and offering pro bono legal services, alongside her role as an adjunct professor at Thomas M. Cooley Law School. To view the full list of honorees, visit tampastylemagazine.com/category/tampas-top-women-in-law.
