Greater TEXAS Federal Credit Union Member Wins Prize from United Way for Greater Austin

MANOR, TX (August 19, 2013) — The Financial Opportunity team at United Way for Greater Austin presented the Bank On Central Texas grand prize raffle winner, Mark Mead, with a new iPad Mini on Wednesday, August 14, 2013.

Mark received his raffle entry for opening a second account at the Manor branch of Greater TEXAS Federal Credit Union (GTFCU).   The raffle, which ran from April to June 2013, was launched in order to promote and encourage more Austenite’s to open a checking or savings account and veer away from check cashing fees.

The Manor branch is GTFCU’s newest branch and is conveniently located along Mark’s drive home, which is just east of Elgin.  He has been banking with the small credit union for about seven years because of the family feel it provides.  Mark was very surprised when he received the phone call that he had won the iPad Mini.  He said he has never won anything and that he has big plans for using it to help manage his small business which brings him out of the office and all over the greater Austin area.  Five months ago, Mark started pursuing Alamo Lawn Care full time, after doing it part time for about six years.

Comerica Bank, Velocity Credit Union, 1st Convenience Bank, BB&T and GTFCU participated in the Bank On Central Texas Outreach campaign.  You can find out more about Bank On Central Texas at uwatx.org/banking. GTFCU currently has 17 branches across the state of Texas and over 66,000 members.
